Puzzle of the Day

Friday, March 27

Let's keep the "random photos from Dr. Shapiro's cellphone" theme going. I took the picture below in Oakland's wholesale produce market. What did the box contain? (I've blurred out the answer.)

Check back on Monday for the answer, a shoutout to all the solvers, and a new puzzle!

Yesterday's puzzle:

I took the pictures below (in Berkeley and SF). Can you guess the text blurred out from each sign? (You can answer one or both.)

Hints (highlight to view):

Answer:

The first sign says NO OUTLET (not "I DO NOT HAVE A SNAIL DRAWN ON ME", but lol). One solver had seen this actual sign in real life!

The second sign identifies the name of the alley as WALDO. I got several creative guesses, including Candy Cane Lane, Barber St., and North Pole, and one student used landmarks to identify the street Waldo branches off of.

Hats off to those who solved one or both: Lucia, Josh M., Anna J., Zachary Z., Charlie, Peter V., Leo S., Maddy, Hazel, Jessica, Mr. Gregg and Mr. Gregg's wife, and one anonymous person!

And just for fun, here's another picture I took of a street sign, this time in Oakland. Props to my city for recycling:
