I saw this question on LearnedLeague and loved it so much, I had to steal it.

Answer:

If Tom was trapped in tomato paste, then

• Pico was trapped in pico de gallo
• Alfred was trapped in alfredo sauce
• Arina was trapped in marinara sauce

Maddy, who knows her Italian food, points out that the last bottle could just as easily be milanese sauce. And Charlie suggests two more sauces I didn't think of: dijon mustard and balsamic reduction.
